Run to Remember 5K Walk/Run
Saturday, May 1, 2010
This Chicago Police Memorial Fund benefit is a 5K USATF-certified, 5K non-competitive walk and junior jog on Chicago's beautiful lakefront is sponsored by the Chicago Police Running Club. The race begins at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park (east of Soldier Field). Sauganash Wellness Center is proud to be providing free mini massages for participants for our fifth year.

Edison Park Turkey Trot

This 13th Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk through beautiful Edison Park is a healthy alternative to spending Thanksgiving Day passed out in front of the television! Burn off some of those holiday calories and enjoy some fresh air. All skill levels welcome, including a Gobble Gallop for the kids. Proceeds benefit the Misericordia Heart of Mercy. The Sauganash Wellness Center team will be offering mini-massages for participants.

Lincolnwood Turkey Trot
November 22, 2009
Join in the 33nd Annual Lincolnwood Turkey Trot race and our 4th year providing mini-massages for participants. The event consists of a 5K / 10K run, a 5K fitness walk and a Drumstick Dash for children ages 10 and under. Turkey trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age division, male and female, in each running race.

Sauganash Chamber of Commerce Field of Dreams Kite Festival
Saturday, October 24, 2009; noon – 4:00 pm
Familes are welcome on the front lawn of Queen of All Saints, 6280 N. Sauganash Avenue, Chicago. Free admission. We'll be there providing mini-massages in case you get a kink in your neck from watching all the high-flying fun!

Join in the Sauganash Community Association Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K. Bob Perkaus III, for whom the race is named, was a life-long Sauganash resident until his sudden death in 2005. Dedicated to family and community, his passion was running. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to a scholarship fund at Loyola Academy that has been set up in Bob's name. Sauganash Wellness Center will be providing complimentary mini-massages and stretching for participants.

Change the Face Race

Sponsored by the American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation, this 5k Walk/Run takes place at Bunker Hill Forest Preserve off Caldwell Avenue between Touhy and Devon in Chicago. Can you imagine what we'll be doing? You got it; free mini-massages for participants.

Dr. Minkler Now Certified to Perform Manipulation Under Anesthesia

Sauganash Practitioners Certified in Reiki Healing

Dr. Deanna Minkler and Rachel Shaffer completed Reiki I, II, and III level training and are now certified in Reiki. They join fellow practitioner and Reiki Master Karen Delmonico in providing this unique service for clients. Come in for a session and see for yourself.

Dr. Minkler Certified as Chiropractic Sports Physician

Dr. Deanna Minkler is now certified in chiropractic sports medicine having completed 100 hours of the Chiropractic Sports Physician program of the National University of Health Sciences. The program emphasizes total care of the injured athlete and focuses on industrial, community, intramural and recreational athletes who sustain sports-related injuries or who are at risk of sustaining an injury. By deepening her knowledge in this area, Dr. Minkler can provide better care and services to her patients in whatever activities they may enjoy.

Come join us on Saturday, July 26th (10:00 am to 10:00 pm) and Sunday July 27th (10:00 am to 8:00 pm)! All festival activities will be located on N. Kinzua Ave. (east of the Metra tracks and north of W. Devon Avenue). West Ridge Chamber's Annual Tournament of Heroes

Join us at the Third Annual Tournament of Heroes Softball Game
West Ridge Firefighters versus 24th District Police Department. The game takes place at Thillen's Stadium (the corner of Kedzie and Devon). Gates open at 5:30 pm with the game to start at 6:30 pm. Admission: Suggested donation of $2 for adults and $1 for kids 10 and over. All proceeds from the event to go to the West Ridge Chamber of Commerce and its programs.

It's a Boy!
Congratulations to Rachel and John Shaffer on the arrival of their baby boy, Hunter Alfred. Hunter debuted at 6:18 am, on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Guess he really wanted to be an April baby!
He's 20 inches long and a healthy 7 pounds, 11 ounces. All are doing fine and Rachel and John really appreciate all the thoughts and well wishes from everyone!
