Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractics is a branch of healing arts based on the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system – especially the spine and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body. It is a drugless, non-surgical therapy utilizing manipulation of the spine and extremities, as well as clinical nutrition, physiologic therapeutics, massage, lifestyle counseling, hygiene, acupuncture, rehabilitation and overall wellness promotion to prevent and treat disease.
“Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word chiropraktikos, meaning “effective treatment by hand.” Like all other therapeutic methods, chiropractic is not and does not profess to be an all-inclusive art of healing. It acknowledges limitations, recognizes the need for consultation and referral, and is respectfully aware of the efficacy of other forms of therapy.

Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese acupuncturists believe that life energy called “Qi” (pronounced chi) flows through the body via a series of energy channels, or pathways, called meridians. Treatment involves stimulating the body’s own natural healing energies by influencing the Qi using needles at specific points along these meridians. The theory is that this stimulation of the body releases energy blockages which exist when a person has chronic pain or any other type of physical or emotional problem. Acupuncture helps to balance Qi.
Massage Therapy
Chronic stress and other conditions of our modern lifestyles can result in major health problems. Therapeutic massage and stretching help relieve muscular tension brought on by stress, repetitive movements or sports. Regular treatments can improve circulation, reduce anxiety and allieviate pain.
Massage therapy also compliments chiropractic and other techniques by addressing soft tissue areas (your muscles and tendons). The body becomes relaxed and the benefits may be extended.

Physiologic Therapeutics
Different types of therapies are more appropriate for some treatments than others. Cryotherapy (ice therapy) and hot packs benefit the body by either reducing swelling and numbing pain or increasing circulation and relaxing muscle tension. Paraffin baths provide localized heat for target pain areas, such as chronic arthritis pain or chronic sports injuries.
Other physiologic therapeutics include Electro-Muscle Stimulation (EMS), also known as interferrential current (IFC). EMS is very effective in relieving pain through a small electrical current induced into the tissues. Another treatment, ultrasound, uses high frequency sound waves to increase blood flow, relax muscle spasms and promote healing.

Physical Rehabilitation / Rehab Therapy
Commonly known as "physical rehab," this type of treatment helps restore function and mobility for people with all kinds of problems. Athletes with sports injuries, anyone who has been in an car or other kind of accident and people who have "pulled something" get specific exercise recommendations and instructions. As part of your chiropractic or bodywork visit, you will learn what kinds of stretches and strength training you need to regain function and prevent weakness or re-injury.

Nutrition
You may not be getting everything you need to stay healthy in your current diet. Fast food and high stress lifestyles can contribute to eating habits with poor nutritional value. Sauganash Wellness Center practitioners will evaluate any member of your family to find out what types of food, vitamins or minerals they need. Get expert guidance on antioxidants, herbs and other supplements whether you need to fuel your high-pressure desk job or high-performance sports activities.

Graston Technique®

Kinesio Taping®
The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction. The first technique gives the practitioner the opportunity to actually give support while maintaining full range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physical activity with functional assistance. The second technique helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps provide facilitation of lymph flow 24 hours per day. It is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation.
Correctional techniques include mechanical, lymphatic, ligament / tendon, fascia, space, and functional. Kinesio Tex Tape can be used in conjunction with other therapies, including cryotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and electrical stimulation.
